Japa Yajña – A Sacred Offering of the Holy Name
A Call to All Gaudiya Vaishnavas
Dear devotees, aspiring chanters, leaders, and renounced acharyas,
The time has come for us to unite in a grand Sankirtana movement—a yajña of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra.
Japa Yajña is an opportunity to collectively offer one billion (1000 crore) holy names to Sri Sri Radha-Krishna within one year.
This divine offering requires the daily participation of at least 108,000 devotees chanting 16 rounds or even more devotees offering whatever they can.
Whether you are new to chanting or a lifelong practitioner, this yajña welcomes everyone.
”harer nāma harer nāma harer nāmaiva kevalam
Bṛhan-nāradīya Purāṇa38.126
kalau nāsty eva nāsty eva nāsty eva gatir anyathā
This is not just a numerical goal—it is an act of devotion that will purify our hearts, uplift our congregations, and please Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
A Sacred Yajña for the Age of Kali
The Vedas describe many types of yajñas, but elaborate fire yajñas are impractical in this degraded age.
The greatest and simplest yajña for Kali-yuga is Nāma Yajña—the collective chanting of the Lord’s holy name.
”yajñaiḥ saṅkīrtana-prāyair yajanti hi sumedhasaḥ
Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam11.5.32
By participating in this Japa Yajña, we invoke auspiciousness for the entire world, purify our own hearts, and become instruments of the Lord’s mercy.
Why should you participate?
For Beginners: Take Your First Step Today
If you are new to chanting, this is your invitation. You do not have to chant 16 rounds immediately—just start with one round and gradually increase.
“Anyone who chants the holy name, even once, is to be considered a Vaishnava and respected.”
— (Chaitanya Charitamrita, Madhya 15.106)
Chanting is not difficult, and you will experience the transformation as you continue. Start now, and be part of this great offering.
For Devotees: Strengthen Your Sadhana
If you are already chanting, now is the time to deepen your commitment. This yajña is an opportunity to chant with greater focus, determination, and devotion.
“Chanting should be heard with rapt attention. One should chant and hear simultaneously. This is called śravaṇa-kīrtana.”
— (Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 7.5.23-24, Purport)
By taking part in this yajña, your chanting will become more powerful and pure, helping you progress spiritually while contributing to this collective goal.
For Preachers & Leaders: Inspire Your Congregation
ISKCON preachers and congregational leaders have a great opportunity to mobilize devotees for this yajña.
This initiative can engage both committed devotees and new seekers.
“Preaching means to induce others to chant the holy name.”
— (Srila Prabhupada, Letter to Karandhara, 1971)
Encourage everyone in your yatras, temples, and online communities to take part in this yajña.
A congregation of 10,000 devotees chanting even 10 rounds each will make an enormous contribution. Every round counts.
For Sannyasis & Renounced Vaishnavas: Lead This Yajña
To our respected sannyasis and senior Vaishnavas, this yajña aligns with your sacred duty—spreading Krishna consciousness through the holy name.
By championing this movement, you fulfill the very purpose of renounced life.
“In distributing love of Godhead, Caitanya Mahāprabhu and His associates did not consider who was fit and who was unfit, nor where such distribution should or should not take place.
They made no such conditions. Rather, wherever they got the opportunity, the members of the Pañca-tattva distributed love of Godhead.”
— (Chaitanya Charitamrita, Adi 7.23-24)
We humbly request our renounced acharyas to inspire devotees across the world to join this yajña and fulfill Lord Chaitanya’s prophecy.
The Supreme Benefit: A Spiritual Revolution
This yajña is not just for personal purification—it is for the benefit of the entire world. When thousands chant together, the combined effect is immeasurable:
- Spiritual upliftment: Each participant experiences purification and deeper connection with Krishna.
- Global transformation: A billion holy names will create a wave of divine consciousness across the planet.
- Empowerment of devotees: Chanting together strengthens faith, increases enthusiasm, and creates unity.
- A powerful service to Srila Prabhupada: By collectively chanting, we fulfill his desire for mass Sankirtana.
“The holy name has inconceivable spiritual power. If one chants sincerely, he will feel transcendental bliss and his heart will be cleansed of all material contamination.”
— (Srila Prabhupada, Nectar of Devotion, Chapter 8)
This yajña is the greatest offering we can make in this age—a yajña that requires no material wealth, only our sincerity.
How Can You Participate?
A Rare Opportunity—Don’t Miss It!
This yajña is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate in a massive, history-making spiritual offering.
By joining this movement, you will be part of a sacred tradition that will bring immense spiritual benefit to all who participate.
“Just as a lamp can light thousands of other lamps without losing its own power, similarly, chanting the holy name spreads unlimited light without diminishing.”
Join the Japa Yajña today and be part of a global revolution in Krishna consciousness!

The Foundation of Spiritual Life
”Chanting is our life and soul
Śrīla Prabhupāda
Śrī Chaitanya Mahāprabhu, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, descended to teach the yuga-dharma—the chanting of the Hare Kṛiṣhṇa mahā-mantra. He emphasized that pure chanting is the only way to attain Kṛiṣṇa in this age of Kali.
”In this Age of Kali there is no other means, no other means, no other means for self-realization than chanting the holy name, chanting the holy name, chanting the holy name of the Lord.
Bṛhan-nāradīya Purāṇaquoted by Śrī Chaitanya in Cc. Ādi 17.21
Why is Pure Japa So Urgent?
Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura warned that inattentive or offensive chanting is a great obstacle in spiritual life.
”Chanting without attention is an insult to the Name. It will not produce results.
Bhaktisiddhānta Vāṇī
Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura also stressed the urgency of improving the quality of our chanting rather than focusing merely on numbers.
”Chanting one pure Name is better than chanting millions of Names without attention.
Harināma Chintāmaṇi
Japa is the Root
Everything Else Follows
Just as a tree flourishes when its roots are watered, all aspects of spiritual life—sādhanā, service, relationships, and realization—become fruitful and blissful when Japa is performed with quality and sincerity.
”Without cultivating Kṛṣṇa’s name, all other practices will be weak and ineffective.
Śrī Nāma MahimāBhaktivinoda Ṭhākura
The Transformative Power of
Pure Japa
Purifies the Mind and Heart
- Japa removes anarthas—material desires, bad habits, and distractions.
- Śrī Chaitanya Mahāprabhu prayed: “Ceto-darpaṇa-mārjanam”—“Chanting cleanses the mirror of the heart.” (Śikṣāṣṭaka 1)
Strengthens Bhakti and Sādhanā
- Without good chanting, our enthusiasm for reading, Deity worship, and service diminishes.
- Śrīla Prabhupāda emphasized: “First thing is that everyone should chant at least sixteen rounds. That must be done.” (Letter to Satyabhāmā, August 5, 1971)
Removes Anarthas and Offenses
- Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura warns: “If one does not chant attentively, the weeds of material desire will grow alongside the bhakti creeper.” (Śrī Chaitanya Śikṣāmṛta)
Increases Kṛṣṇa Consciousness in Daily Life
- When Japa is done properly, we remember Kṛṣṇa throughout the day, even while working.
- Śrī Chaitanya Mahāprabhu taught: “One must chant the holy name, thinking oneself lower than the straw in the street… If one chants in this way, certainly he will achieve the ultimate goal of life.” (Cc. Ādi 17.31)
The Solution:
Focus on the Quality of Our Japa
Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura stated:
“A moment spent without chanting is a moment lost in illusion.”
How Can We Improve Our Japa?
Japa is Not Optional
It is the Core of Bhakti
”Chanting is not a ritual; it is our lifeline to Kṛiṣṇa. The Holy Name is Krishna Himself.
Śrīla Prabhupāda
If we chant with care, our spiritual strength will increase, our faith will deepen, and we will develop genuine love for Krishna.
Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura writes in Harināma Chintāmaṇi:
“Pure chanting is the only way to attain Kṛiṣṇa. There is no other way, no other way, no other way.”
Let us urgently take up pure Japa as our primary sādhana. Everything else in spiritual life will follow naturally.

- The regularity and quality of chanting over an extended period.
- Whether candidates are maintaining minimum prescribed rounds without fail.
- The spiritual progress reflected in their dedication and commitment.
“The offenseless chanting of the Holy Name will manifest the form, qualities, and pastimes of the Lord in the heart of the chanter.”

3.
Strengthening Bhakti Vriksha and Nama Hatta Communities
- Encourage consistent participation in collective chanting efforts.
- Recognize those who may be struggling and offer personal motivation.
- Organize structured mentorship by identifying experienced devotees who can inspire newcomers.
“One should chant the holy name of the Lord in a humble state of mind, thinking oneself lower than the straw in the street, more tolerant than a tree, devoid of all sense of false prestige, and ready to offer all respect to others. In such a state of mind, one can chant the holy name of the Lord constantly.”
– Śrī Chaitanya Mahāprabhu (Śikṣāṣṭaka 3)
4.
Guiding Congregation Members and Aspiring Leaders
- Selecting candidates for leadership roles in temple services and projects.
- Assessing the spiritual maturity required for Brahmana or Sannyasa Diksha.
- Recognizing and supporting Nama Acharyas who embody exemplary chanting.
“The essence of all advice is that one should utilize one’s full time—twenty-four hours a day—in nicely chanting and remembering the Lord’s divine name, transcendental form, qualities, and eternal pastimes, thereby gradually engaging one’s tongue and mind.”
– Śrī Rūpa Gosvāmī (Upadeśāmṛta 8)

Suddha Nama Japa Ruchi :
Chant Purely, Love Krishna
”“sakala jagate ei śuna sarvajana
Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura,Hari-Nāma Cintāmaṇi
nāma bina kali-kāle nāhi āra dhana”
“O people of the world, please hear this truth: in the age of Kali, there is no greater treasure
than the Holy Name.”
The ultimate purpose of life is Krishna Prema—pure love for Krishna. And the most direct and powerful way to attain this is through Suddha Nama Japa—chanting Krishna’s Holy Name in complete purity.
The Suddha Nama Japa Ruchi initiative is dedicated to reviving the essence of Gaudiya Vaishnavism as taught by Śrī Chaitanya Mahāprabhu and our Gaudiya Acharyas. Our purpose is to inspire and support sincere seekers in their deep journey into the pure Name of Krishna—where chanting transforms from a practice into a direct experience of Krishna’s presence.
The Heart Behind Japa Ruchi: Cultivating a Taste for Śuddha Nāma
At the core of the Japa Ruchi initiative lies a simple yet profound aspiration—to awaken ruchi, a deep taste and attraction, for Śuddha Nāma Japa, the pure and offenseless chanting of the holy names of the Lord. Our endeavor is not merely about increasing mantra counts; it is about nurturing the quality of connection with the Holy Name, ultimately guiding devotees toward the supreme goal of life—Prema, pure love of God.
The Japa Ruchi app serves as a humble facilitator on this sacred journey. It supports devotees in building a steady habit of chanting, moving from external discipline to internal longing. The process begins with regularity and mindfulness, and gradually blossoms into deep absorption, where every bead becomes an offering of the heart.
Many great acharyas, including Śrīla Prabhupāda, have emphasized that all time should ideally be devoted to chanting and devotional service. With this inspiration, the app is designed to help practitioners stay organized, focused, and introspective about their daily Japa practice, so they may align their lives with this sacred instruction.
The Logo: A Symbol of Sacred Resolve
The Japa Ruchi logo is not just a design—it is a spiritual emblem. It represents the aspiration to develop genuine ruchi in chanting the holy names purely. The soft curves and devotional motifs symbolize the transformation of the heart through humble, consistent practice. As the devotee progresses, chanting evolves from a duty into a loving offering, springing spontaneously from the soul’s longing for Krishna.
Let us chant not just more, but purely and with feeling—and let that chanting become our life, our joy, and our connection with Krishna.

lineages in the universal pure Japa movement. - Encouraging Suddha Nama Japa – Helping devotees cultivate offenseless, heartfelt chanting.

centered on Nama Sankirtana as the Yuga Dharma.
”śrī-kṛṣṇa-nāma-yena ratna-maṇi-dhāma
nāma-lābhe bhakta pāya ratnākara-sama. Krishna’s Holy Name is like a priceless jewel. When a devotee chants sincerely, he receives
the treasures of the entire ocean of Krishna Bhakti.
The Focus is always Krishna Prema
While we have created engagements for all devotees, this initiative is not focused on numbers, rankings, or recognition—it is about each devotee
developing a true, heartfelt attachment (Ruchi) to Krishna’s Holy Name.
“Premā pumartho mahān” — Krishna Prema is the highest goal.
Through pure chanting, Krishna reciprocates, purifies the heart, and reveals His eternal
love.
Let us uplift one another on this sacred path. Together, let us chant purely and love Krishna.
Japa- A Spiritual Offering, Not a Commodity
Japa, the meditative chanting of the Mahāmantra, is a deeply personal and sacred practice. At Japa Ruchi, we honor this spiritual discipline by fostering a supportive environment where practitioners can inspire each other and grow in their Bhakti.
We firmly uphold that Japa is not meant for material gain, nor should it be commercialized in any way. The leaderboards and milestone boards on Japa Ruchi are exclusively for contributors who support temples and serve as a means to encourage spiritual competition—not for seeking rewards in a transactional sense.
Japa: A Sacred Practice
Beyond Material Exchange
Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura, in Hari-nāma Chintāmaṇi (Chapter 2), warns against considering the Holy Name as something mundane:
“hari-nāma akṣara nāhe, ithe artha nāhi māne,
aprākṛta vastu nāma-dharma”
“The syllables of the Holy Name are not ordinary letters, nor do they carry mundane meaning. The Name is fully spiritual and transcendental in nature.”
Similarly, Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī emphasizes in Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu (1.2.234):
“anyābhilāṣitā-śūnyaṁ jñāna-karmādy-anāvṛtam
ānukūlyena kṛṣṇānuśīlanaṁ bhaktir uttamā”
“Pure devotional service is free from all material desires, undisturbed by mental speculation or fruitive activities, and is performed solely for Krishna's pleasure.”
Japa must always be performed in this pure mood—free from selfish desires and never as a means to attain material success.
Why Leaderboards & Milestones?
In the history of Gaudiya Vaishnavism, saintly personalities have encouraged devotees to set spiritual goals and push themselves in Bhakti. Our platform follows this tradition by providing milestones and leaderboards that:
- Inspire Devotees: Healthy spiritual competition encourages devotees to deepen their practice with enthusiasm.
- Support Temples: Contributors who participate help sustain temples, ensuring that spiritual communities continue to flourish.
- Promote Collective Growth: By seeing others excel, practitioners are inspired to increase their dedication.
However, we emphasize that this is not a race for personal achievement but a collective effort to glorify Krishna and support temples.
How We Uphold the
Sanctity of Japa?
Japa Ruchi is designed with a clear principle: the Holy Name is transcendental and beyond all material exchanges. We take a firm stand against any notion that Japa can be commodified. Participation in Japa Ruchi should never be seen as a way to gain material benefits or status—it is a tool for sincere practitioners to deepen their commitment and serve temples selflessly.
Śrī Chaitanya Mahāprabhu instructed:
“nāma vinā kali-kāle nāhi āra dharma
sarva-mantra-sāra nāma, ei śāstra-marma”
“In the age of Kali, there is no other dharma but the chanting of the Holy Name. The Holy Name is the essence of all mantras—this is the verdict of the scriptures.”
(Chaitanya-bhāgavata, Ādi-līlā 16.94)
Thus, we approach Japa not as a means of material upliftment but as the highest form of spiritual practice in this age.

Recognize & Support Present-Day Nāma-Āchāryas
For generations, Gaudiya Vaishnavas have spread Śrī Chaitanya Mahāprabhu’s mission through preaching, book distribution, kīrtana, and temple construction. These are vital aspects of devotional service. However, one core practice—the foundation of all spiritual advancement—needs revival: pure, attentive Nāma-Japa.
A Call to Honor Those Who Lead by Example
Throughout history, exalted devotees like Śrīla Haridās Ṭhākura, revered as the Nāma-āchārya, have demonstrated the transformative power of the Holy Name. Today, while kīrtana thrives in communities, Japa—deeply personal and meditative—often receives less focus.
Yet, there are dedicated practitioners today—modern-day Nāma-āchāryas—who chant with profound absorption, inspire others through their dedication, and uphold the tradition of pure chanting. Isn’t it time we recognize, honor, and support them?
This initiative is not limited to ISKCON but embraces all sincere Gaudiya Vaishnavas who are striving to deepen their relationship with the Holy Name and inspire others to do the same.
Reviving the Culture of Pure Japa
”I offer my respectful obeisances unto the six Gosvāmīs... who were engaged in chanting the holy names of the Lord and bowing down in a scheduled measurement. In this way, they utilized their valuable lives, and in executing these devotional activities, they conquered over eating and sleeping and were always meek and humble, enchanted by remembering the transcendental qualities of the Lord.
Śrī Śrī Ṣaḍ-gosvāmy-aṣṭaka
”What can I achieve by chanting with one tongue and one mouth? If I had millions of tongues and trillions of ears, then I could relish the holy names properly.
Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī
”The Holy Name can be chanted in two ways: ordinarily or with affection. The ordinary offenseless chanter gradually develops affection, leading to deeper realizations.
Śrīla Jīva Gosvāmī
”This temporary life is full of miseries. Take shelter of the holy name as your only business.
Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura
”Japa must be heart deep and not only with the lips like something mechanical—in other words, chanting with the heart is our goal.
Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura
”90% of our advancement is dependent on chanting.
Śrīla Prabhupāda
Encouraging Dedicated Japa Practitioners
While large-scale preaching brings new devotees, the strength of our movement depends on deep internal transformation. Recognizing and uplifting dedicated Japa practitioners ensures that the roots of our Bhakti remain strong.
Through leaderboards, milestones, and recognition initiatives, we can:
-
Encourage devotees to take Japa seriously.
-
Honor and support those excelling in personal chanting.
-
Revive the legacy of pure Nāma-sādhana across all Gaudiya Vaishnava communities.
Your Role as a Leader
As a senior devotee, spiritual leader, or well-wisher, this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact. By recognizing and supporting emerging Nāma-āchāryas, you are not just honoring individuals—you are strengthening the very foundation of our tradition.
Let’s restore the golden standard of Japa. Let’s recognize and support those who are leading the way.
Join the initiative today and help sustain Nāma-Āchāryas, their temples, and their spiritual mentors.
Supporting Nāma-Āchāryas, Their Temples & Gurus
Nāma-Āchāryas do not practice in isolation. They are often guided by great spiritual mentors and serve within temples that uphold the highest standards of sādhana. These temples and their spiritual leaders play a crucial role in facilitating serious Japa practice.
By supporting Nāma-Āchāryas, we must also support the temples and gurus who have nurtured them. This ensures that the sacred environment that produces deep Japa practitioners continues to flourish.

The Emergence of Japa Ruchi
Born from Bhakti, Guided by Dr. Sukhadeva Swami
Japa Ruchi blossomed under the divine guidance and blessings of our revered spiritual master, Dr. Sukhadeva Swami. Rooted in the timeless teachings of the Guru-parampara, this offering was not born merely of intention, but of anugraha — the grace of the Guru. His wisdom, vision, and unwavering dedication to the path of bhakti have been the life-force behind this sacred initiative.
“Guru-mukha-padma-vākya, cittete koriyā aikya” — it is by aligning our hearts with the words of our Guru that Japa Ruchi found its form. What began as a humble aspiration has now become a spiritual reality, lovingly shaped and nurtured by Dr. Sukhadeva Swami’s instruction, blessings, and tireless encouragement.
He is not only the inspiration, but the very father of Japa Ruchi — the torchbearer whose light continues to illuminate this path of chanting, remembrance, and devotion.
Founder of the Kurukshetra Iskcon Temple, Haryana
Born in Vijayawada and trained as a urologist in the USA, His Holiness Sukadeva Swami embraced a higher calling through ISKCON. With unwavering devotion, he pioneered temples, massive Rath Yatras, and spiritual education initiatives. His compassion manifests in sanctified food distribution and future plans for holistic communities rooted in Vedic values and sustainability.
In line with his deep-rooted commitment to spiritual upliftment and cultural renaissance, Dr. Sukadeva Swami envisions his next revolutionary contribution — the Statue of Bliss (Ānandamūrti), a magnificent monument in honor of Srila Prabhupada. Inspired by national icons like the Statue of Equality and the Statue of Unity, this project is a spiritual emblem meant to embody divine joy, wisdom, and the timeless mission of spreading Krishna consciousness.
More than just a structure, the Statue of Bliss represents a global invitation to reconnect with the soul’s true nature — ānanda, or eternal bliss. It will serve as a cultural, educational, and devotional hub, drawing seekers from across the world to celebrate Srila Prabhupada’s teachings and legacy. With this vision, Swamiji continues to inspire future generations toward higher values, universal brotherhood, and a life centered around devotion, compassion, and inner fulfillment.
